Fruit Blend
Fundamental to MonaVie Energy is the nutrient-packed acai berry. This precious berry has long been a staple in the diet of Brazilian natives. Modern science continues to confirm what Brazilian natives already knew. Acai is a remarkable berry containing phytonutrients, essential fatty acids, complex carbohydrates, dietary fiber, and amino acids. The people of Brazil knew that the acai berry gave them energy, but science has shown that acai is rich in energy-enhancing vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

In addition to acai, MonaVie Energy includes other energizing fruits from the Amazon such as acerola, cupuacu and camu camu. Apple, white grape, pear and purple grape are also included to enhance flavor and increase key nutrients.

Palatinose
Palatinose (also known as isomaltulose) is a low-glycemic, natural form of sugar found in honey and cane sugar. This unique sugar metabolizes more slowly than other sugars. Because it is not metabolized as quickly, energy levels are sustained longer. In fact, recent studies of isomaltulose have shown it can help promote a steady stream of energy over a longer period of time. These benefits may help consumers avoid the peaks and valleys associated with high-sugar energy alternatives. Most energy drinks are loaded with caffeine for a quick jolt, but can leave you feeling foggy and jittery. Palatinose is ideal for the production of the next generation of energy drinks.

Proprietary Botanical Blend
Guarana, Gotu Kola, Chá de Bugre, Yerba Mate, Suma

Guarana
Guarana (Paullinia cupana) is a Brazilian herb that is considered “GRAS”—generally recognized as safe. It has become a popular addition to energy drinks because of its high caffeine content. Traditionally, guarana has been used as a natural mental and physical tonic. Today, guarana is mostly used to increase energy and improve athletic performance. Its traditional use for enhancing alertness may be attributed to its natural caffeine content. The use of guarana to improve athletic performance has been tested in vivo with favorable results in physical and cognitive function.

Gotu Kola
Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica) appears to have some central nervous system benefits with potential improvements in energy, memory and sleep patterns.

Chá de Bugre
Chá de Bugre (Cordia salicifolia) is a small tree indigenous to Brazil. In Brazil, it is commonly called café do mato (coffee of the woods) because it produces a red fruit resembling a coffee bean. This fruit is often roasted and brewed into a healthy tea or coffee substitute.

Fruit BlendMaca
Maca (Lepidium meyenii) is native to south America and has been used since ancient times as a staple food crop. Maca has been touted in folkloric medicine for its energizing properties. Also known as Peruvian ginseng, studies indicate that maca may have an impact on the central nervous system. Maca has a long history of use as a food that makes people feel good and strong.

Yerba Mate
Yerba Mate (llex paraguariensis) is native to subtropical South America in Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. Yerba Mate is sometimes marketed as a ‘caffeine-free’ alternative to coffee and tea and is said to be safer. From reports of personal experience with Yerba Mate, its physiological effects are similar to (yet distinct from) more common beverages such as coffee and tea. Users report a mental state of feeling awake, focused and alert, similar to most stimulants, but without the typical adverse effects of those stimulants.

Acerola (Vitamin C)
Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is a water-soluble vitamin needed by the body for hundreds of vital metabolic reactions. Due to relatively new research, intake requirements (RDA) for Vitamin C were recently increased. In one clinical study, researchers evaluated required intakes of Vitamin C. They identified symptoms of mild but distinct fatigue and irritability in 86 percent of study participants who had sub clinical levels of Vitamin C deficiency. This means that while these participants consumed enough Vitamin C to prevent scurvy, they experienced mild symptoms of tiredness and poor temperament.

Suma (Brazilian Ginseng)Fruit
Suma (Pfaffia paniculata), or Brazilian Ginseng, is a large ground vine native to Central and South America most notably from Brazil. The indigenous people of the Amazon basin have used the root of Brazilian ginseng as a tonic (strengthener of the body). Recommendations for Brazilian ginseng include claims for use as an adaptogen and an anti-fatigue ingredient. Adaptogens can help increase stamina and heighten resistance to stress.

D-Ribose
Ribose is a carbohydrate that can serve as a precursor to stimulate the production of ATP (cell energy) in laboratory studies. Consumption of ribose is believed to help maximize ATP stores and, therefore, increase cellular energy stores for improved exercise performance and fatigue prevention.

L-Tyrosine
L-Tyrosine is a non-essential amino acid and precursor to adrenaline (ephedrine) naturally formed in the body. Findings from several studies suggest that dietary L-tyrosine can help reduce the acute effects of stress and fatigue on physical and mental performance.

B-complex Vitamins
B-complex vitamins are essential for many physiological and metabolic functions; they help support and may increase the rate of energy metabolism from the foods we consume. B vitamins are essential for the metabolism of carbohydrates and fat into energy. Together, B vitamins may help combat the symptoms and causes of stress. The B-complex vitamins included in MonaVie Energy are vitamins B3, B5, B6 and B12.
